Today was a sad day...
When launching G-Zezz on a G64-W there was something wrong.
After a few meters, the motor started to "chuff" and lost its power. The rocket also lost stability.
You may see (part of)the flight on the movie below. The Rocket reappears in the upper right corner, going towards ground...G-zezz
First I suspected that the ignigter wasn't mounted correctly. If it's not fully inserted, the reload may start to burn too low, with a "chuffing" as result.
But when I inspected the motorcase, it became clear that this was not the problem.
The casing had suffered from a "Blow by" and part off the casing had melted. I wish I could blame something else, but this was probably caused by me. The forward closure was not tighten enough, which had the effect that the O-ring at the aft was not sealed, and this caused the blow by.
Well, looks like I have to order another RMS casing...

Happy happy joy joy!
Today I recieved my 29mm RMS casing and special wrench from Rebel Rocketry.
Soon G-zezz will feel the power of G64 ;-)

For my birthday I got a "Action camera". My intention was of course to adapt it for rocketry. The downside is that its a bit heavy, 200gr. But it is robust, shock and water proof, which is good. You'll never know how your rocket will land.
The mirror is attached with epoxy putty.
One or two minor changes is needed. I'll put a plexi "window" to reduce drag, and the camera bay has to be painted. Probably this configuration will be flown on G64-4W.

G-Zezz is my biggest rocket so far. It is scratch built with LOC parts. 3" body tube and 5 fins. It has 29mm MMT.
First Flight was on Aerotech SU G38-5J. (can be seen in ssc33 movie, see Media)
I have ordered a 29mm RMS casing (Monster motors) from Rebel Rocketry but haven't recieved it yet. The reloads came from SierraFox last week.

This is one of my favorites.
When I saw it in Estes catalogue in 2000 I directly fell in love.
Normaly I will fly it on F12-3.
I think I'll have about 15-20 successfull flights with this bird.
The fins has been laminated with white glue and office paper. Here is a short movie clip (RMS F12-3J)
